Workshop & Traning
Since 2010, the Abdul Gafur Khatri family has trained over 300 girls from Nirona and Bhuj in the intricate tradition of Rogan Art. Today, around 25 young women from Nirona continue to work under their guidance, creating exquisite Rogan masterpieces.
To preserve and spread this rare craft, the Khatri family initiated training programs for local girls from different communities, empowering them with skills and new livelihood opportunities. This initiative also made history when Khatri Shahenajbanu Sumar became the first lady in the family to practice Rogan Art, even giving a live demonstration to Smt. Helen Clark, Former Prime Minister of New Zealand.
Workshops are regularly held for those who wish to learn, experience, and practice Rogan Art alongside master artisans. Visitors can witness the delicate process of painting with castor oil–based colors, understand the cultural significance, and even try their hand at this 400-year-old craft.
